Lawrence Husband, 88, of Delta, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021 at the Northern Mahaska Specialty Care Center in Oskaloosa. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 26 beginning at

11 a.m. at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. Burial will be held in the Sixteen Cemetery, west of Thornburg. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of What Cheer is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Lawrence George Husband, the son of Lawrence H. and Mildred Lorene Van Patten Husband, was born on Oct. 7, 1933 southwest of What Cheer, Iowa. He attended What Cheer schools and graduated from Thornburg High School in 1951. Lawrence married Alberta Mae Fry on March 29, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Thornburg. They were later divorced. He farmed with his father, drove a school bus, and worked as a night watchman at Kingsbury Homes in Sigourney. He also drove truck for them and for Gibson Oil. He, lastly, worked at William Penn College at Oskaloosa in maintenance, mainly as a groundskeeper. He enjoyed gardening, camping and socializing.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Douglas Husband; and his partner, Linda Robertson.

Lawrence is survived by his sons, Roger (Bev) Husband of Savanna, Ill.; and Larry (Sandy) Husband of Oregon, Ohio; his daughter, Janet (Wayne) Braden of Beacon, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Fry of Wylie, Texas.
