NORTH ENGLISH – During the Sept. 4 meeting of the North English City Council, Mayor Dan Strohman noted that work on the Washington Street project was scheduled to start Sept. 16. City Employee David Knipfer stated this was a best case scenario. Councilman Lou Garringer asked what the hold up was, because the project was initially planned to start at the end of July. City Employee Jason Lee stated that the project is required to start by Sept. 23. Knipfer stated it was planned to be completed in September. Garringer stated it would not take long to complete.

Strohman stated that the court case against a property on Oak Street had been dropped because the owner cleaned his property. He noted that the city would need to have direct violations to go to trial, not just general complaints over messy yard.

The council approved setting the trick-or-treating time from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 31.
