Pekin Board Member Resigns
PACKWOOD – According to a press release sent out by the Pekin Community School District, Board Member Michael Sieren has announced his resignation, due to his family moving out of his district. Sieren, who represents the district covering the city of Hedrick, had been a member of the board since 2023, when he was appointed to fill a vacancy after a former board member moved out of the area. Sieren was reelected to the board the same year. Sieren’s resignation will go into effect on Feb. 11, one day after the next board meeting. The board intends to appoint a replacement within 30 days, unless a petition is received within 14 days of the press release being released (before Feb. 14) calling for a special election. Only Hedrick residents are eligible to be nominated for this vacancy. The press release recommends those with questions or interest in being considered for the board seat contact Board Secretary Kaye Gilbert at 319-695-3705, extension 262. The board requests all nominations be sent by 4:00 p.m. on Feb. 12.
