Pekin Boys Take Home Second at Panther Relays


Pekin’s Kasey Davis bolted to a first place finish in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.11

PACKWOOD—The Pekin Panthers hosted the Panthers Relays on April 15 with Davis County and Albia. The Panthers finished in second place with an aggregate score of 171.

For the relay teams, the Panthers secured five first place finishes: the 4x100, the 4x200, the sprint medley, the distance medley and the shuttle hurdle relay.

The 4x100 team, which consists of Kasey Davis, Will Adam, Nolan Glick and JaeDon Wolver, finished their race in 45.95.

The 4x200 tallied a time of 1:36.22 and was made up of Will Adam, JaeDon Wolver, Sven Dahlstrom and Nolan Glick.

The sprint medley team, Kasey Davis, Sven Dahlstrom, Robert Brown and Nolan Glick, took home the gold with a time of 1:42.50.

Sven Dahlstrom, Robert Brown, Nolan Glick and Mason Dahlstrom made up the distance medley team, and wrapped up their race in a time of 4:08.15.

The shuttle hurdle team, which is made up of Robert Brown, Kasey Davis, Will Adam and JaeDon Wolver, secured their first place finish with a time of 1:04.57.

The relay teams also secured second place finishes in the 4x800, and that team was made up of Mason Dahlstrom, Brady McWhirter, Riley Smith and Robert Brown.

For individuals, Brady Mcwhirter took home the gold in the mile run with a time of 4:56.81. McWhirter also placed second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:02.24. 

In the two mile run, Ben Guise took home the bronze with a time of 12:21.76.

Lastly for the running events, Riley Smith secured second place with a time of 1:03.41.

In the long jump event, Will Adam finished in first place with a longest jump recorded at 19-11.25, while Alijah Brock placed second with his longest jump recorded at 17-04.

JaeDon Wolver earned second place in the high jump with his highest jump recorded at 6-00, while Brody Sobaski earned third in the same event with his longest jump at 5-04.

Lastly, Isaac Sylvester recorded the third longest throw in the discus event on the day with a  119-06.

The Pekin boys track team will return to action on April 22, when they host the Ruritan Relays.
