Pekin Graduate now National Champion at Grand View University

Isaiah Wittrock, a former Pekin Panther, now competes for the Grand View University Vikings on their track and field team. He earned a NAIA national champion title along with his teammates in the  4×800 relay this past weekend.  The 56th annual NAIA Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships was held at the Ruth Donohoe Fieldhouse on the campus of Mount Marty at Yankton, S.D. 

 

The team of Carter Huyser (SO/Oskaloosa, Iowa), Ben Huftalin (SR, Osage), Talon Munger (JR/Oskaloosa, Iowa), and Isaiah Wittrock (JR/Richland, Iowa) competed on Saturday in the Men's 4x800 Meter Relay Finals. Wittrock ran the anchor leg for the team.This relay finished with a time of 7:41.32. 

 

This is the third year in a row Huyser, Huftalin, Munger, and Wittrock have earned All-American Honors for this event. Last year, the team finished third at the indoor nationals, and have also been the Heart of America conference champions two years in a row.

 

The men’s team finished 16th place overall out of 61 teams.
