Pekin Pounces on Keota in Four Sets

KEOTA—On September 3, the Keota Eagles hosted the Pekin Panthers for a SICL vs SEISC matchup. The Panthers pounced past the Eagles in four sets by scores of 28-26, 30-27, 23-25 and 25-17.

The first set was controlled by the Panthers to a 23-15 lead. The Eagles stormed back with a 9-0 run to secure a 24-23 lead. The Panthers would still come away with the 28-26 set win.

The second set was similar to the first. Pekin stormed out to a 19-13 lead, and Keota stormed back to tie it at 23 apiece. The Panthers would fight to etch out the 30-28 lead, and the 2-0 set lead.

Keota would win the third set by a score of 25-23, but the Panthers would win the game in the fourth set.

The Panthers offense was led by seniors Kayse Miller and Myah Bainbridge, who tallied seven kills apiece.

The Panthers had three separate athletes finish with double digit digs on the night: Paytem Coleman-19, Paislee Coleman-14 and Kayse Miller-11.

The Panthers push to 3-1 on the season, and will return to action on September 5, when they visit the Wapello Arrows.

The Keota Eagles fall to 2-2 on the season, and will return to action on September 9, when they visit the Highland Huskies.
