Pekin Track Teams Participate in Davis County Meet


Pekin’s Anna Hadley swept both the shot put and discus events

BLOOMFIELD—The Pekin Panthers track teams made the trip to Davis-County high school on March 21 for a CO-ED track meet. The girls finished in second place with an aggregate score of 176, while the boys took home the bronze with a cumulative score of 137.

For the girls team events, the Panthers finished in first or second place in six of the seven events. They took home first in the 4x800, the distance medley and the 4x100 shuttle meter hurdles. They finished in second place in the 4x100, the 4x200 and the sprint medley.

For individuals, Anna Hadley swept the shot put and discus events with first place finishes in both events.

Kayse Miller finished in the high jump event in first place with a highest jump recorded at 5-00.00.

Audrey Fariss breezed to a first place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:39.03.

Chloe Glosser also earned a first place finish with a time of 5:12.89 in the 1500 meter run.

Abby Guise placed third in the 100 meter hurdles, while Brinley Phillips finished in third in the 400 meter hurdles.

For the boys team events, the Panthers took home first place in the 4x800 meter relay and the 4x110 meter shuttle hurdle relay.

For individuals, JaeDon Wolver put on a show taking home first place in the 400 meter hurdles and the high jump.

Will Adam also secured a first place finish in the long jump with a longest jump recorded at 19-08.50.

In the 110 meter hurdles, Kasey Davis dominated the competition with a first place finish in 15.98.

Brady McWhirter, a long distance state qualifier last year, continued where he left off with a first place finish in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:07.38. 

Cole Milikin took home third place in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:09.77, while Isaac Sylvster placed third in the discus event.

The boys team will return to action on March 25, when they host the Ruritan Relays.

The girls team returns to action on March 26, when they head to West Burlington high school.
