Reta Jean Gullett, 97

Reta Jean Gullett

10.20.27 - 1.24.25

Reta Jean Gullett, a long time resident of Speedway, IN and currently residing in Greenwood, IN, went to meet her Lord on the evening of January 24, 2025 at the proud age of 97 years old.  Born in Keota, IA on October 20, 1927, she was the daughter of Guy and Ruth (Rittenhouse) Lyle.

Reta was a beam of sunshine that brought so much happiness to everyone she encountered.  She loved reminiscing about fond memories, her time working at the bank, and loved to be “up” on all new happenings, but her most cherished treasure was her family.  The pride and love she felt for her family was unmatched and transcended when she spoke of them.  She married the love of her life, Loren Gullett, on her birthday in 1948.  Having three daughters together, Judy, Joy, and Jan, one could tell how much she enjoyed being a mother and all it entailed while raising them.  As time marched on, she thrived at being the best Grandma to her four grandchildren and “Granny” to her seven great-grandchildren.  Her pure heart was evident and little laugh was contagious.  She would do anything for a good chuckle.

She is survived by her sister Shirley (Howard) Bohr of Wellman, IA, children Judith (Ron) Craft, Joyce Bertalon, Janet (Tony) Elrod, grandchildren Courtney Craft, Justin (Stephanie) Craft, Heather (Jhared) Simpson, Zachary Elrod, great-grandchildren Natalia Benallo, Blake Benallo, Bradyn Craft, Genesse Craft, Bentley Craft, Avery Elrod, and Amelia Elrod.

Reta was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Leroy Gullett, who passed away in 2007 and her brothers Richard (Phyllis) Lyle, Francis (Theola) Lyle, James (Erma) Lyle, and Charles (Dorothy) Lyle.

There is no doubt she touched countless lives and will be missed by so many.

A visitation will be held in her honor on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 12:30 - 3:00pm with the funeral service immediately following, both taking place at Conkle Funeral Home located in Speedway at 4925 W. 16th St.

“Life is about live, love, and laughter” as she always enjoyed saying, so it would mean the world to her to see so many smiling faces attend in celebration.

As a long-time member of the Speedway United Methodist Church, contributions, support, and new worshippers are always welcome.
