NEW SHARON—On September 10, the Sigourney Savages volleyball team made the trip to North Mahaska for a matchup against the Warhawks. The Savages were narrowly defeated by the Warhawks in five sets.

The Savages stormed out the gates, and won the first two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-21.

The Warhawks did not waiver, as they bounced back with two straight set wins to secure a fifth and final set.

North Mahaska had gained all the momentum with the two straight set wins, and boosted themselves to a 15-2 win in the final set.

The Savage offense was fueled by the play of senior setter Taylor Rozenboom, as she finished with a team high 15 assists.

On the other side of the set, senior Josephine Moore led the team with nine kills. Moore also led the team with 23 total digs on the defensive side of the ball.

The Savages lose their first conference game of the season, and fall to 7-2 overall. They will return to action on September 17, when they host the PCM Mustangs.
