Schools Cancelled Because of Freezing Rain, Flu

KEOKUK COUNTY – Southeast Iowa was hit by a storm of freezing rain on the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 5, covering everything in a thin, slippery layer of ice. Sigourney Schools had a 1 p.m. dismissal on Wednesday and a two-hour delay on Thursday. Keota had a 12:45 p.m. dismissal on Wednesday and a two-hour delay on Thursday. Tri-County had a two-hour delay on Thursday; they also postponed their Homecoming boom night from Wednesday to Friday. Pekin canceled school on Wednesday and Thursday. English Valleys had a 1 p.m. dismissal on Wednesday, and cancelled both Thursday and Friday due to a large number of students having the flu.
