SIGOURNEY – During the July 17 meeting of the Sigourney City Council, City Clerk Angie Alderson explained that the city's insurance costs would go up this year from $50,000 to $71,000. Alderson also explained the city would receive lower costs if they moved to a higher deductible. The council approved the new insurance costs. Alderson stated that, if the council choses a different insurance option after meeting with Paul Horak of Horak insurance in August, the city will be reimbursed for the difference.

Councilwoman Connie McLaughlin stated that a survey would be sent out with water bills asking if the public would be interested in a community rec center.
