Last Tuesday, Jan. 12, Sigourney had their fourth game in five days and faced a defensively stout BGM team, finding themselves down 18-15 at halftime.

“We gave up three or four offensive boards early in the first quarter, and it led to some threes, and that hurt us,” Coach Eslick said about the first half performance.

Despite the opening two quarters having single digit score tallies for the Savages, Sigourney cleaned it up offensively and defensively in the second half scoring 16 and 14 in respective quarters.

“The rebounding was a lot better in the second half, and then we took care of the ball. If we wouldn't have done those things, we would have been in trouble,” Coach Eslick said.

Senior Josh Mohr led Sigourney with 12 points, and his presence on and off the court is looked upon positively by Coach Eslick.

“Getting Josh back here after Christmas has been huge for us. I mean, that's been a huge factor in us winning some games, just his calming presence on some of our guys has been huge,” Coach Eslick shares.

Sigourney won 45-39 and would play Columbus Junction Thursday, Jan. 14.
