Sigourney woman jailed on assault on peace officer, false report charges

Sigourney, Iowa- A Sigourney woman was arrested on January 13 after police say she inappropriately call 911, and then later assaulted a Sigourney Police Officer. Shelby Lynn Clubb, 25, was taken into custody at her residence after officers were dispatched in reference to five 911 calls in which nobody was on the line.

A criminal complaint filed in Keokuk County District court states that Clubb called 911 at 4:09 pm, 5:02 pm, 5:06 pm, 5:09 pm, and 5:13 pm on January 13.

“The defendant did not communicate with Keokuk County 911 staff during any of the times that she called 911,” writes Officer Richard Fortney in the criminal complaint.

The complaint goes on to say that after officers arrived, they found Clubb and discovered there to be no emergency. Officers also believed that Clubb was intoxicated.

“The defendant was actively consuming an alcoholic beverage, and appeared to be intoxicated. The defendant denied calling 911, but the phone that she had in her possession matched the phone number that was dialing 911,” Fortney writes.

Clubb was arrested and transported to the Keokuk County Jail. According to a second criminal complaint, during the booking process, around 6:18 pm, Clubb told Fortney that she was going to do something stupid. At that time, the complaint alleges, Clubb picked up Fortney’s laptop and threw it at him.

“The laptop missed your affiant, but struck the Keokuk County Sheriff Office's datamaster unit, desk top screen, and wireless keyboard,” Fortney writes.
