THORNBURG—On June 30, the Tri-County Trojans hosted the Hillcrest Ravens for the first round of the Class 1A-Region 8 bracket. The Trojans advanced the second round with a 10-0 victory over the Ravens.

The Trojans got the scoring started in the first inning when Delanie Little stole home on a Hillcrest error. The Trojans went on to add five more in the fourth, and three more in the fifth. In the bottom of the sixth, Delanie Little knocked in Ayla Hall to secure the 10-0 victory for the Trojans.

The offense was led by Raegan Molyneux, who knocked in a pair of runners. The Trojans also had two other athletes secure an RBI on the night: Delanie Little and Alyssa Conrad.

Little also got the start from the bump, and finished her day with six innings pitched, no earned runs on one hit and nine strikeouts. She described the feeling of being able to have this kind of performance with, “Pretty good. I don’t have much to say about it to be honest.”

Little went on to describe what has led to her having such a successful season with, “Playing for so long. I played for five years. Just getting better each year.”

The Trojans will face a familiar foe in the second round in the English Valleys Bears. Little spoke on what she wants to concentrate on, “Starting off strong. Sometimes we don’t start off strong, and then we get better at the end, but it’s already too late. So, start off strong at the beginning and all the way throughout the game.”

The Trojans advance to the second round of the Class 1A-Region 8 bracket, and will visit the English Valleys Bears on July 5 for a chance.
