Delta Days rocks another year
Delta Days proved to be successful this year with hundreds in attendance for various events throughout the weekend.
The morning began with the Covered Bridge Run with eleven participants. The small numbers didn’t stop the participants from enjoying the event.
As the run concluded, the parade began with the Sigourney marching band and color guard leading the way under the direction of Jessica Meyer and Khloe Snakenberg. Following the grand marshals, Carl and Maxine Martin, Keokuk County Fair Queen Tori Brackelsberg as well as Little Mr. Delta, Keagan Bennett and Lil Miss Delta, Drew Matzen made their way down the streets of Delta. Lil Mr. and Miss Keokuk county also joined in on the parade, along with various fire departments, cars and tractors and much more. A full list of parade entries will be included in next week’s paper.
Mick Berg sang the National Anthem as the truck and tractor pulls began after a Quilt of Valor ceremony. While adults and children were watching the truck and tractor pulls, children were able to enjoy the free events put on by the Delta Community club including face painting, caricatures and balloon animals and enjoy food and beverages without having to travel far. Kids games with June Rice were played as a tradition as well.
Bingo was played in the gym along with music for entertainment. The evening concluded at Neighbors Gas and Grill with a street dance to TwoBuckChuck, a classic rock group with Keswick ties.
Sunday began with a community church service for all area residents to come and join in fellowship with one another.
The weekend concluded with a bean bag tournament on Sunday afternoon. Next year’s Delta Days celebration with be September 8 and 9. For photos from this year's Delta Days, click here
