KEOTA – A ribbon cutting for the new Keota Elementary Playground was held on Aug. 22. “It’s been many hands making this happen, but we’re very proud of it and excited for the kids to play on it...truly, it’s an investment in our future,” said Elementary Principal Seth Milledge. “It’s an investment in our kids. It’s an investment in our community. What’s not to like about watching kids smile and have fun out here on the playground?”

Milledge gave thanks to the families and friends of Ann Sheetz, Travis Greiner, Rex and Patty Horing, Zen Stoner, and Jerry Flynn, who all provided memorial funds to build the playground. He also gave thanks to the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, Keokuk County Community Endowment Foundation, Keota Eagle Advocates, and the Keota Education Foundation, who provided grants and donations. Finally, Milledge thanked the businesses who worked on the project, including BNC Repair, Waterhouse Trucking, Boise Excavation and Trucking, McDonald’s Boneyard, River Products, Tinnes Trucking, BNL Concrete, Colonial Lawn Care, and Hershberger Enterprises, and to other members of the public who raised $50,000 in small donations towards the $350,000 project.
