Mary Ferne “Dyson” Rasplicka

Mary Ferne “Dyson” Rasplicka was born March 22, 1936 in rural Sigourney to Oral and Fern (Hanchett) Dyson. She attended school in Washington, Iowa until the 7th grade and graduated from Sigourney Schools in 1954. Mary met her husband William while working in Cedar Rapids and they were married in 1957. The couple had three sons and eventually settled in Sigourney, Iowa where they owned and operated a flower shop. Mary died on December 14, 2024 surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband Bill, sons Greg (Paula) and Tim (Janet), 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, a sister Betty Fair, brother Dean (Carolyn) Dyson, brother Don (Norma) Dyson, and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a son Jeff, and a grandson Joshua. Visitation will be held at Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney on December 16, 2024 from 4pm-7pm. Funeral will be on December 17, 2024 at Church of the Brethren in South English at 10:30am with burial following. A luncheon will be held at First Baptist Church in Sigourney  following the burial.
