KEOTA—On May 29, the Keota Eagles hosted the English Valleys Bears for their home opener. The Bears played spoilers, as they bested the Eagles by a final score of 11-0.

English Valleys senior Kennedy Axmear shined offensively and defensively. Axmear knocked in four RBIs, while striking out 10 and holding the Eagles to no runs. The highlight of her day was her yard. This is Axmear’s third home run of the season.

Senior Ada Mews and junior Taylor Mikesell also tallied two RBIs apiece. Others with an RBI for the Bears: Delaney Hall, Ava Gehrking and Imigyn Stratton.

The Bears push the 5-0 on the season, and head to an important matchup. They will visit the #2 ranked Sigourney Savages on May 31, a game that could dictate who wins a conference title.

The Eagles fall to 0-4 on the season, and they will return to action on May 31, when they host the Montezuma Bravettes.
