DES MOINES—Carrying the Pekin banner by himself at the Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament, senior Panther Blake Juhl topped off his career with a two victory performance at the biggest high school wrestling tournament of the season.

Juhl opened the tournament with a second round pin of Terrian Islas of East Union. In the second round, things didn’t go Juhl’s way as he lost a close decision 10-6 to Deontez Williams of Pocahontas Area.

Showing true grit, Juhl bounced back from the loss with a 11-2 major decision over Mikhail Meyer of Saint Ansgar.

That would be Juhl’s final victory in a Pekin singlet as he fell in the next round by pin to Logan Montgomery of Southeast Warren - Melcher - Dallas.

Blake Juhl finished his final season as a Pekin Panther with a record of 39-7 and a State Tournament appearance.
