Clark and Moore of Sk, Moore of EV/TC, All Take Home Second at the SICL Tournament

VICTOR—On January 27, HLV high school hosted the 2024 SICL Boys Wrestling Tournament. The SK Cobras finished in fifth place with an aggregate score of 107, while the EV/TC team finished in eight place with a score of 54.

SK’s Brady Clark (132) and Jake Moore (157) both earned second place. The highlight of Clark’s day came in his semifinal matchup against BGM’s Briar Kriegel. Halfway through the third period, Clark found himself down 9-3 in points. He quickly secured a takedown, and found himself in an advantageous position. In a matter of moments, Clark went from down 9-3 to securing the pin to advance to the championship match.

Other SK wrestlers to place at the SICL tournament were Jack Greiner-5th (106), Carter Wyatt-5th (144), Jacob Libe-3rd (150), Ashton Schwab-5th (165), Kaen Kopp-6th (175), Owen Menke-4th (190) and Zach Guffey-4th (285). 

EV/TC’s Luke Moore received a bye for the first round and matched up against Montezuma’s Braxton Plants. Moore narrowly defeated Plants by a 4-3 decision. Moore fell in the championship round to HLV’s Cole Fontinel, and finished his day in second place in the 215 bracket.

EV/TC’s Cael Grove and Hunter Offerman also earned podium positions in their respective weight classes. Grove took home the bronze medal in the 106 bracket, while Offerman placed fourth in the 120 bracket.  

Both SK and EV/TC teams will head to Pleasantville on February 10 for the 2024 Class 1A District Tournament.
