Clois Talley, age 100, of Sigourney, died Sunday, January 29, 2023.

Clois was born March 12, 1922, northwest of Richland, Iowa, to Lewis and Stella (Lankford) Derby.  She attended Number 4 School followed by riding a horse to Richland High School.  After high school in 1939 she attended Iowa Success School in Ottumwa.  She later became a bookkeeper and credit manager at Maddens Department Store. On April 29, 1942, she married Duane Talley at the First Christian Church in Ottumwa.  In 1973, they moved to Cherokee Village, Arkansas, where they lived until Duane’s death in 1989.  During this time she worked as a bookkeeper for a local Shell Oil Company.  In 1989 she moved to the Virginia Apartments in Fairfield.  She became a member of the First Christian Church in Fairfield.  The last thirteen years have been in Sigourney enjoying the Care Center and Sigourney Christian Church.

Survivors include a sister: Phyllis Fritchen of Sigourney and eight nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Duane in 1989 and three brothers: Raymond, Harlan and Harold Derby.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4,  at the Sigourney Christian Church, with Dan Glandon officiating.  Burial will be at Richland Friends Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
