The Sigourney-Keota Cobras hit the road last Friday, October 4 and once again left an opponent's stadium with a victory after soundly defeating Pella Christian, 42-12.

“This was the next big hurdle towards our goal of winning another District Championship,” said Cobra head coach Jared Jensen. “Now we can move on and look to take care of business the rest of the way.”

Sigourney-Keota got on the board early in the first quarter when senior Isaac Bruns scored on an eleven yard touchdown run.

Fellow senior Zach Guffey picked up his second fumble recovery of the season during Pella Christian’s next possession.

In the second quarter, Bruns would strike two more times. The first a 35 yard touchdown pass from junior Braydon Wood. His third score of the first half was a one yard touchdown run.

Junior Jacob Libe capped off the first half scoring for Sigourney-Keota with a five yard touchdown run of his own.

Bruns picked up his fourth score of the game early in the fourth quarter, this time it was a touchdown run of 16 yards.

For the game, Bruns carried the ball 31 times for 232 yards and four total touchdowns. He also hauled in two catches for 59 yards.

Capping off the scoring for Sigourney-Keota was senior Brady Clark who scored on a 37 yard touchdown run.

Clark had an impressive night, finishing with 90 yards on five carries.

In total, Sigourney-Keota had 402 rushing yards.

Senior Ashton Schwab led the Cobra defense with six tackles. Junior John Berg finished with five while Libe and Clark both had four.

Up next for Sigourney-Keota is another road contest when they travel to Colfax-Mingo this Friday.

If the Cobras can win out against Colfax-Mingo and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont they have won their fifth consecutive District Championship.

Something Coach Jensen told his team after the game is theirs for the taking.
