Connie Lee Carver, 79

Connie Lee Carver, 79, died Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. She was born February 10, 1945, in Sigourney to Raymond and Jean (Merryfield) Vannoy. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1962. She was married to Ronald Carver (widowed) and later to Denny DesPlanque (divorced).  During her lifetime, she owned and operated several restaurants (Ray's Supper Club, Mason's Cafe, and the Terrace Inn). Later on she would graduate from DMACC with a paralegal degree.   Connie enjoyed being a grandma, taking care of her grandchildren, cooking, traveling, and being with friends. Her door was always open for anyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents.  

Connie is survived by her children, Jeff Carver of Sigourney, Christie Carver-Jones of Salem, Indiana, and Julie DesPlanque Hansen of Sigourney; her five grandchildren, Nicholas Carver, Cody Jones, Chrisandra Jones Lewis, Blake DesPlanque, and Dalton Hansen; several great-grandchildren; and her sister, Cathie Landers of South English.
