Dan Richardson

Dan Richardson died suddenly at home on November 8th, 2023 in Sigourney, Iowa. He was born July 8th, 1961 to Dean Ellsworth Richardson and Martha Hartley Richardson in Sigourney. He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1979, and married Dana (Fairchild) Richardson 41 years ago on October 16th, 1982 at the Sigourney Christian Church.  

Dan worked in a variety of different trades including working for his parents at the What Cheer Lumber Yard, and also working with his father-in-law in construction. He later graduated with a robotics degree in 1992 from Indian Hills, and worked for several companies in predictive maintenance management until retirement in 2021. 

Dan’s real love was spending time outdoors and enjoying the company of his “favorite daughters” and wife Dana. He spent summers camping with his family and also taking fishing trips to Canada or Belva Deer with his best buddies. Dan (aka Dr. Liver) enjoyed spending weekends listening to his new favorite blues band or playing cards and watching Iowa State football games or the Cubs while filling hungry stomachs with his good cooking. 

He is survived by his wife Dana of Sigourney, daughters Lauren Richardson, Mallory Richardson, and Lindy (Blake) Donohue all of Cedar Rapids, his dearly beloved dog Hector, sisters Susan (Roger) Gassett of Cedar Rapids, Debra Poor of Indianapolis, brother David (Janice Kerkove) Richardson of Cedar Rapids, and mother-in-law Janet Fairchild of Sigourney, and many extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Larry Fairchild. Dan was a wonderful husband, father, brother, son, uncle, and friend who will be missed by many. And remember, when life gets stressful just remember to (as Dan said) ohmmmmmmmmm.
