Donna Jean Coble, 79
Donna Jean Coble, 79, passed away on Tuesday November 5, 2024 at the University of Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 12, 2024 beginning at 2:00 pm at the Holland- Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer. Burial will be held in the Van Orsdall Cemetery near Ollie, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday November 11, 2024 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer. In lieu of flowers, Donna requested that memorials be designated to Paws and More in Washington, Iowa. Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer is in charge of arrangements.
Donna Jean Coble was born on December 29, 1944 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Edwin Ploog and Mildred Kincaid-Ploog. She grew up in Keswick and graduated from Tri-County High school in 1963. She grew up in a railroad community. She worked at Shank Nursing Home in Wellman for two years after graduating high school. Donna was united in marriage to Kenneth Coble on February 14, 1967 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. From this union, three children were born, Kenneth, Carolyn and Daryl. Donna was a woman who lived for her family and children spending much of her time cooking the best meals for them and especially her famous banana bread. She enjoyed camping with her family, her dogs, radio shows, coffee time and driving her golf cart and was nick named “Hot Wheels.” She was known by the local kids for her popcorn balls at Halloween and even passed them out for this year’s Halloween. She was a member of the Rural Members of America and a member of the Keswick Methodist church.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; and a son, Daryl Coble.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Jeff) Cuvar; her son, Kenneth Coble; and her brother, Ed Ploog, as well as many other friends and relatives.
