NORTH ENGLISH—The English Valleys Bears baseball hosted the Iowa Valleys Tigers for their home opener. The Bears were bested by the Tigers by a final score of 9-3.

Freshman Kane Axmear dazzled for the Bears by knocking in all three of the runs. Axmear ended his day one for three with the three runs batted in.

Senior Ty Ayers got the start from the bump. He finished his day with five innings pitched, four earned runs on three hits and one strikeout. Fellow senior Myles Grove came in relief with two innings pitched and three earned runs on three hits.

The Bears fall to 0-2 on the season and will return to action quickly, as they visit the Keota Eagles on May 29.
