NORTH ENGLISH—The English Valleys Bears held their home opener against the Midland Eagles, and were narrowly bested by a final score of 19-14.

The Eagles jumped to a 13-0 lead by the conclusion of the first half, but the Bears would not back down.

English Valleys vaulted to a one point lead with two touchdowns in the third quarter. The Bears executed on both of their extra points, and that foundation of fundamentals gave them the one point lead.

The Eagles came to break hearts, as they punched into the endzone in the fourth quarter to retake the lead. They held off any late game heroics from the Bears, and secured the 19-14 victory.

The Bears fall to 0-2 on the season, and will return to action on September 6, when they host the HLV Warriors.
