Iola Walton

1944 - 2023

Iola Walton of Springdale, Arkansas passed away March 24, 2023.  

She was born May 8, 1944 in What Cheer, Iowa to Marion and Golda Raplinger.  Iola lived in Delta, Iowa for many years before traveling to different locations as a construction worker for Norris Construction which is how she met her husband, Stanley.  In 1993, they made their home in Springdale, Arkansas.   

Iola was a dedicated employee while working at Benner’s Grocery and worked at Kingsbury Homes for many years.  After moving to Springdale, she worked at Holiday Inn as an Executive Housekeeping Manager where she retired after 30 years of service. She loved everyone she worked with and considered them family.  

Iola spent numerous hours in her beautiful flower beds and could grow anything.  She loved putting puzzles together and building frames to display her works of art.  Iola loved the challenge of solving crossword puzzles.  She cherished any time spent with her family.  Iola was an avid fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, Iowa Hawkeyes, and enjoyed watching NASCAR races.  

Iola was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Golda Raplinger, her brothers Glenn Raplinger of De Pere, WI, Allen Raplinger of Cedar Rapids, IA, Larry Raplinger of What Cheer, IA, Jim Walton of TX, Karen Paulson of AZ, Phyllis Reinbeck of IA, LaNeta Ann Walton of NE, nephew Joshua Goodnight of Rogers, AR, and a great-great nephew Christian Noah Sexton of Rogers, AR. 

She is survived by her husband, Stanley after 29 years of marriage.  She leaves behind her beloved sister, Carlyn Krumm-Ploog of Rogers, AR and three sister-in-laws Ethel Raplinger of De Pere, WI, Barb Raplinger of Oskaloosa, IA, Jan (Chuck) D’Addario of Poway, CA, brother-in-law Larry (Janis) Walton of Portage, MI, 4 children, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren,  many nieces and nephews, and special grandchildren, Rosalyn and Oliver.

A Celebration of Life service was held on Saturday, April 8th from 3:00-6:00 pm at Holiday Inn located at 1500 South 48th Street, Springdale, AR.
