James "Jim" Sheetz

James “Jim” Sheetz

1940-2020

KEOTA-James "Jim" Allen Sheetz, 80 of Keota passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, where he was being treated for COVID.

Jim was born on March 5, 1940 to Andy and Florence (Frank) Sheetz in Washington. He was the youngest of 10 children. Jim was raised in the Keota area, and received his education from Keota Community School District. Jim was a member of the Kinross Christian Church.

Jim was united in marriage to Ginger Seitsinger on Dec. 27, 1959. On a farm outside of Kinross, Jim and Ginger raised three daughters, with which he shared his orneriness and love for life. Some of Jim’s proudest moments were witnessing these same gifts in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jim spent his life farming, raising cattle, and loving his family. He never met a stranger, and would often get lost in conversation with anyone who crossed his path. He instilled this same trait in many of his family members. He was also the most reliable person to anyone who needed him, but especially his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Marlowe and Iona Seitsinger, brothers and sisters-in-law Richard and Elizabeth, Roger and Esta, Raymond and Celia, Paul, and Larry; sisters and brothers-in-law Marjorie and Everett Davison, Naomi and Fred Wade, Pauline and Bill Cady, Imogene Sparby; brothers-in-law Robert Shain, Dennis (Skip) Hathaway; sister-in-law Nancy Seitsinger, and several nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife Ginger, daughters Holly (Tony) Wredt of Omaha, Shelly Sheetz of Kalona, Wendy (Michael Kaiser) Sheetz of Madrid; grandchildren Erienne Wredt, Emili (Brian) Brosnan, Jacob (Amanda) Neuzil, Justin (Ashley) Neuzil, Elley Neuzil, Jameson Kaiser; five great grandchildren Lilly Neuzil, Jaxton and Joslyn Neuzil, Brecken and Easton Brosnan; brother-in-law Ronald (Sheryl) Seitsinger; sisters-in-law Carole Sheetz, Ann Sheetz, Sherry Shain, Dixie Hathaway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim’s immediate family will have a private graveside service, until we can all safely convene one day soon.
