KAREN ECKLEY

1945 - 2023

HEDRICK-Karen Eckley 77 of Hedrick died June 7 2023 at White Oak Estates in Oskaloosa.

She was born in Linby on August 21, 1945 to Harold and Gail Roquet Hedlund. She married Dallas Dale Eckley on April 18, 1964 and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2008.

A 1963 graduate of Pekin High School, she went on to earn her license in cosmetology. Upon graduating from cosmetology school, Karen owned and operated Hilltop Beauty Salon for over 50 years in her home. For the past 13 years she also styled hair at Windsor Place Senior Living in Sigourney. She greatly enjoyed the residents and staff. She was a member of Grace Family Church in Ollie. Karen loved her church family and enjoyed gardening, flowers, feeding and watching birds and writing poetry.

Surviving are her sons Scott (Barbara) Eckley of Lee’s Summit MO, Pastor Dar (Shelley) Eckley of Hedrick and Brent (Sherene) Eckley of Farmington AR; 13 grandchildren; Mark (Courtney) Gilmore, Kristin (Kelley) Jenison, Jordan (Kelly) Eckley, Luke (Riley) Eckley, Victoria, Chase, Chandler and Dayne Eckley, Hannah (Collin) Frazier, Emily (Jack) Celeslie, Madison (Josh) Schilling, Hillary, Marquis Eckley and 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Tucker of Duluth, MN and Becky Droz of Fairfield.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, John Hedlund, Beverly Callen, Katheryn Nichols and Betty Klodt; brothers-in-law, Bob Droz and Paul Tucker.

Visitation was open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 9, at Reece Funeral Home. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Grace Family Church in Ollie with Rev. Joe McGee officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Martinsburg.

Memorials may be made to Grace Family Church or to the family.
