Keota Boys and Sigourney Girls Win SICL-East Titles
SIGOURNEY/MARENGO—The SICL-East tournaments were held this past week with the boys being on April 22 and the girls being on April 25. The Keota Eagles won the boys SICL-East Title with a low score of 326, while the Sigourney Savages won the girls SICL-East Title with an aggregate score of 467.
The Keota Eagles were led by senior Sawyer Stout, who tied for the medalist position with a score of 75. Cole Kindred tallied an 83, while Connor Strand and Tanner Waterhouse wrapped up their rounds with 84s apiece.
The English Valleys Bears boys team ended their round in second place with an aggregate score of 328. Eli Marsh tied for the medalist position with a score of 75. Gage Heyne tallied a 78, which earned him third place. Luke Moore finished in 12th with a 87, while Tyler Lortz placed 13th with a 88.
The Savages boys team finished in third with a team score of 336. Solon Yates tallied the low score, and a fourth place finish, for the Savages with a score of 80. Freshman Ike Molyneux finished in fifth place with an 82, and Isaac Bruns finished tied for ninth with a 85. Lastly for the Savages, Brock Alderson ended his day in 14th with an 89.
The Sigourney girls team was led by Emma Hammes, who finished with a team low score of 109 for a fourth place finish. The final three golfers for the Savages all earned top 10 finishes: T-7th Addyline Tremell-119, T-7th Lana Thomas-119 and 9th Krysta Sellers-120.
Keota did not yield a team score, but Lainey Swanson earned a fifth place finish with a score of 113. Ava Greiner ended her day in 18th.
For the Bears, Jaidyn Rugg tallied a 115 for a sixth place finish, while Sarah Fredrick finished in 14th with a 135.
All three teams will return to action on April 30, when they head to Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa for the SICL Conference Tournament.
