Keota girls pick up win over Louisa-Muscatine

KEOTA – The start of the week couldn’t have been better for the Eagles. 

The Eagles were able to pick up their first win of the season in a Dec. 2 game against Louisa-Muscatine. The Eagles won 51-41, despite trailing at halftime. 

Both teams scored 11 points in the opening quarter. Louisa-Muscatine would go on a 15-8 run in the second quarter to take a lead at halftime. 

Fortunes flipped for the Eagles in the third quarter. Keota was able to hold the Falcons to just four points, while Keota scored 16 to surge into the lead. 

Keota finished the fourth quarter with a 16-11 run which helped them gain the eventual 10 point win.

The Eagles were led by Emily Conger who scored 10 points. Kennedy Jackson scored nine points in the win. Another nine points were turned in by Cameron Haifley. Grace Conger scored seven points. Dakota Dodd finished with six points. 

Kimberely Clarahan and Elyse Lyle both scored five points each.

Friday night the Eagles were back in action as they played Iowa Valley. The game was close throughout the entire contest, but Iowa Valley scored four more points in the first quarter than the Eagles to help give them a lead. 

The Eagles would be outscored 33-23 in the second half allowing Iowa Valley to take the eventual 64-50 victory.
