Keota Holds District Speech Competition
KEOTA – Keota Community School District held the district speech competition on Saturday, Jan. 21. More than thirty schools from Southeast Iowa competed. Keota competed in Ensemble Acting, One Act Play, Group Improv and Readers Theatre; the One Act Plays “Audition” and “10 Reasons to Stay Home Sick,” Readers Theatres “Scoter Thomas Makes it to the Top of the World” and “How Angel Peterson Got His Name,” and Ensemble Acts “Dinner Plans” and “If Men Played Cards as Women Do” all went on to state.
Sigourney competed in Readers Theatre and Short Film; Readers Theatre “Casey at the Bat” and Short Film “Little Intruders” both went on to state. Pekin competed in Solo Mime, Group Improv, Musical Theatre, and Short Film; Solo Mime act "Bubble Trouble" by Ayla Banes, Musical Theatre performance "End of the Line" from the musical "The Theory of Relativity," and the group improv performance by Anna Hadley and JT Spray all went on to state.
English Valleys competed in Radio Broadcasting, Short Film, Group Improv, and Ensemble Acting; their Radio Broadcasting performance “98.9 The WATCHER” and Ensemble Acting performance “At Home With Tess and Wanda” went on to state. Tri-County, who competed at Tama, had Freshman Choral Reading "Complain and Enabled," High School Choral Reading "School of Cool," and Short Film "Having Your Cake" go on to state.
