KEOTA – Keota Commuity Schools hosted State Show Choir the evening of Jan. 30. Keota’s team, Eaglerock, preformed the songs All Night Long, Gone Gone Gone, Handclap, and Happy Dance. Landyn Greiner, Jake Morris, Dakota Dodd, Luke Moeller, Macie McDonald, Grave Conger, Kate Elam, Ava Greiner, Noah Fisher and Taylor Garman had solos. Eaglerock continued singing even after the school’s fire alarm mistakenly went off, leading one judge to say that they “were on fire.” The judges praised Keota’s bass and tenors, saying they were excellent for such a small school, and gave heavy praise to director Jane Edwards. The judges noted what they felt was a weak opening to All Night Long and recommended the choir sing more confidently, practice dancing on beat, and make it clear they’re having fun.

State show choir competitions give teams one of four ratings. Superior, Excellent, Good, or Poor. Eaglerock received an Excellent rating, as did four other teams. The other two teams competing that day received Superior ratings.
