Lorain J. Miller, 90

KEOTA—Lorain J. Miller, age 90, of Keota, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the Keota Health Care Center.

Lorain was born February 8, 1934, in Brandfield, Indiana, the daughter of William and Marie (McGrath) James and received her education in Indiana and Illinois.  Lorain worked as a Punch Operator for the Department of Transportation in Springfield, Illinois for several years before moving to Washington, Iowa.  She worked at Crane Company in Washington for 12, years and then worked in home health care for 25 years, most recently with Optimae Life Services.  Lorain enjoyed square dancing, having coffee and watching people at County Line Mart, watching westerns and the Home Shopping Network. 

Survivors include two children: Geary James of Harper and Robin (Russell) Scotchell of Shinnston, West Virginia; six grandchildren: Abby Purkeypile of Keota, Amanda (Kyle) Mundt of Marseilles, Illinois, Alisha (Ben) Fitchett of Bruceton Mills, West Viginia, Nina (Daniel) Yahnke of Harper, William (Mikayla) James of Harper and Michelle (Todd) Timpe of Donnellson and 14 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Dale James and Fred James and sister: Loretta Proska.



Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a short service at 7:00 p.m. Graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois.  Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois.  



A memorial fund has been established for Essence of Life Hospice.  Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Loraine and her family.  Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
