Marcella Redlinger

1942 - 2022

SIGOURNEY-Marcella Mae Redlinger, age 80, of Sigourney, formerly of Harper, died Monday, December 12, 2022, at Serenity House in Oskaloosa.

Marcella was born February 27, 1942, in Sigourney, to Raymond R. and LaVera C. (Flander) Bruns and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1960.  On October 19, 1963 she married James A. Redlinger at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney. They made their home in Harper.  Marcella was a cook at the Catholic schools in Keota and Harper, was the Harper City Clerk for many years and worked at Casey’s in Sigourney for several years, but raising her children was her main priority.  She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, the Altar and Rosary Society and Harper Women’s Club for many years. Marcella enjoyed doing plastic canvas crafts, camping, yearly visits from family, monthly family Zoom calls and bi-monthly drives around the country.

Survivors include five sons: Anthony (Krista) Redlinger of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Raymond (Lee) Redlinger of Waltham, Massachusetts, Larry (Pam) Redlinger of Kalona, Ken (Julie) Redlinger of Parker, Colorado and Kevin (Jenny) Redlinger of Sigourney; four granddaughters: Sam Redlinger and Shy Bellone of Waltham, Massachusetts, Rachael Redlinger of Henderson, Nevada and Bailey and Natalie Redlinger of Sigourney; bonus grandchildren: Zach and Lexi; three sisters: Lorinda Kool of Ely, Beverly Kinkade and Barbara Raplinger, both of Oskaloosa and two brothers: Gary (Connie) Bruns and Scott (Becky Newman) Bruns, both of Oskaloosa. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband: James on August 6, 2008.

A memorial mass was held at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 16,  at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, with Rev. Charles Fladung presiding. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Friday, at the church.

A memorial fund has been established for Homestead of Oskaloosa and Serenity House. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Marcella and her family.  Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com
