Mary June Adam, age 94
Mary June Adam, age 94, of Washington, formerly of Keota, died November 18, 2023, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.
Mary June was born April 14, 1929, in Hillsdale, Illinois, to Francis and Florence (McCabe) Brooks. She graduated from Fairfield High School and attended Parsons College in Fairfield. On November 29, 1951, she married Earl E. (Speed) Adam at St. James Catholic Church in Washington. The couple made their home in Keota until Earl’s passing in 1995. Mary June moved to Washington in 1996. In addition to raising her children, Mary June worked at the State Theater in Washington, the Washington State Bank, helped in the B.J. Byrne and Meeker Law Offices and filled in at the Keota City Clerk’s Office. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, where she made the church bulletins for several years, and St. James Catholic Church in Washington. Mary June enjoyed gardening, baking and her grandchildren.
Survivors include three children: Cathy (Bryan) Buffington of Washington, Ed (Wendy Laing) Adam of Washington and Richard (Deb) Adam of Tiffin; four grandchildren: Melanie (John) Bimson of Washington, Iowa, Adam Buffington, Virginia, Jayme (Jennifer) Adam of Norwalk and Jenna (Turner) Beilman of Cheney, Kansas; five great grandchildren: Piper and Pierce Bimson, Lukas and Audrey Adam and Emilia Beilman and two sisters-in-law: Martha Bryson of Spencer and Eveline Adam of Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Earl (Speed) Adam; great granddaughter: Claire Grace Adam; sister: Betty Dimmitt and husband Jim; brother: John David Brooks; brothers and sisters-in-law: Paul and Kathleen Adam, Leo Adam, Viola Adam, Gene Bryson, Alfred and Janette Adam and Richard and LaVera Brown and four nephews: Bob Bryson, Roger Adam, Leo Gent and Donald Adam.
Memorial mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with Rev. Robert Lathrop presiding and Rev. Bernie Weir concelebrating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Keota. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00am on Friday November 24, 2023, at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota.
