Millikin runs 57th, Dahlstom 83rd at State cross country

FORT DODGE – Throughout most of the first mile the two bright red uniforms were running nearly shoulder to shoulder. 

The second mile separated the two Pekin runners during the class 1A State cross country race held Nov. 2 at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course north of Fort Dodge. Junior Cole Millikin was able to pull away from sophomore teammate Mason Dahlstrom in the final stretch of the race. 

Millikin would finish 57th overall with a time of 17:31.5 in the race, which placed the junior 57th overall in the run. At the first mile of the race Millikin was able to keep a pace of 5:20.3. His second mile slowed down just a bit as he ran it in a time of 5:47.2. The last mile took Millikin 6:24 to finish the race. 

Dhalstrom, who would finish the race 83rd overall with a time of 17:50.4, was able to best his teammate’s first mile with a time of 5:20.2. The second mile was clocked in at 5:53.8. In the third mile of the race Dahlstrom was able to run that in six minutes and 36.4 seconds.
