Round 1:

Moravia Mohawks:12 Keota Eagles:0

On June 30, the Keota Eagles visited the Moravia Mohawks for the first round of the Class 1A-Region 8 bracket. The Mohawks moved past the Eagles by a final score of 12-0.

The Eagles wrap up their season with a record of 0-17. 

Pekin Panthers:7 Tipton Tigers:5

On June 30, the Pekin Panthers and Tipton Tigers matched up for the first round of the Class 2A-Region 7 bracket. Both teams came into the game with a winless record, and the Panthers went on to notch their first tally in the win colum, when they took down the Tigers by a final score of 7-5. 

The Tigers scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. The Panthers quickly tied the game at one apiece by the conclusion of the first inning. The Tigers added three in the fourth to secure a 4-1 lead. The Panthers quickly cut the lead to one at 4-3, and then went on to plate four runners in the top of the sixth to secure their first lead of the day at 7-4. The Panther’s defense went on to hold the Tipton offense to only one more run en route to the 7-5 victory.

The Panther offense as led by Payten Coleman, who knocked in three runners on two doubles and a single. Kendyl Noel also tallied two RBIs on two singles. 

Ezra Parson got the start from the bump, and went one and one-thirds innings pitched and no earned runs on no hits. Addison Smith came in relief in the second inning, and finished her day with five and two thirds innings, one earned run on five hits and 10 strikeouts.

The Panthers advance to the second round of the Class 2A-Region 7 bracket, where they will visit the Regina Catholic Regals. 

Round 2:

Regina Catholic:12 Pekin:0

On July 5, the Pekin Panthers visited the Regina Catholic Regal for the second round of the Class 2A-Region 7 bracket. The Panthers fell to the Regals by a final score of 12-0.

The Panthers end their season with a final record of 1-20.
