Panthers Wrestling Teams Participate in Cardinal Quad


Pekin’s Lila Miller pushed to 18-1 on the season with two more wins tallies

ELDON—On December 2, both Pekin Panthers wrestling teams headed to Cardinal high school for a quad. 

The Pekin boys team were unable to secure a victory, but Reed Lauderman (106) was a bright spot for the Panthers. 

Lauderman won all three of his matches via pin in an average time of 3 minutes and 13 seconds. 

Zachary Doud (126) was the only other Panther boy to secure a pin, as he took his Moravia counterpart down in 1:20.

For the girls, the Panthers breezed past Moravia by a final score of 66-0.

Lila Miller (140) and Lexa Nelson (110) secured the two pins for the Panthers in this match. Miller took down her Moravai opponent in 58 seconds, while Nelson secured her pin in 57 seconds.

Nine other Panthers received points via a forfeit en route to the 66-0 victory.

The Panthers fell to the Comets in their next match by a final score of 54-24.

Lila Miller once again secured a pin. She took down her Cardinal counterpart in an astonishing 13 seconds.

Hailey Pedrick (135) was the only other Panther to secure a pin in the match against Cardinal. Pedrick took down her Cardinal opponent in 1:11.

The Pekin boys team will return to action on January 6, when they head to North Mahaska high school for an invitational.

The Pekin girls team returns to action on January 5, when they participate in the Highland Invitational.
