Pekin’s Glosser leads Panther girls to SE Iowa title, Panther boys finish fifth
COLUMBUS - For nearly a minute she had to wait to see how the rest of her competition would fare.
On Oct. 15 Chloe Glosser, once again, proved to be the fastest girl in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference event as the junior was able to run to a first place finish. In addition to winning the meet her teammates helped the Panthers capture first place overall.
Pekin’s girls finished the meet with a total of 76 points, winning over Hillcrest Academy who was second with 98 points. Danville was third with 100 points.
Glosser was the overall meet champion with a time of 19:14.8. Her nearest competition was Marie Yoder from Hillcrest Academy, who finished the race in a time of 20:01.
The key to the success of the Panthers was their ability to run close together. Maddy Petrehn was 19th overall. Abby Guise finished 22nd overall. Callie Deutchle was able to finish 24th overall. Brinley Phillips placed 31st overall. Renae Eubanks was 40th. Harper Guise would place 47th overall.
In the boys race the Panthers finished fifth overall in the team standings with 124 points. Danville won the meet with 67 total points. Mediapolis was second and Columbus Community placed third.
Mason Dahlstrom led the way for the Panthers with a ninth place finish. Cole Millikin was right behind him in 10th. Lane Fariss was 30th overall. Brody Sobaski beat out Dylan Sobaski for 38th in the race. Dylan Sobaski was 39th. Sam Hall finished 55th and Conor Cloyd was able to finish 73rd.
