Pekin Girls Win SEISC Meet

WAYLAND—On May 5, the Pekin Panthers track teams made the trip to WACO high school for the 2023 SEISC Conference Meet. The Panther girls finished in first place in the North Division with an aggregate score of 185, while the boys placed fifth with a score of 96. 

Girls:

For the team events for the girls, the Panthers secured first place in three events and second in two others. 

The Panthers were the first team to cross the finish line in the 4x400 relay, 4x800 relay and the distance medley. 

The 4x400 team consisted of Claire Roth, Audrey Fariss, Sabrina Reneker and Chloe Glosser, and finished in 4:20.22. The 4x800 team was made up of Audrey Fariss, Alex Parsons, Brooker Miller and Chloe Glosser, and crossed the finish line in 10:18.17. The distance medley team included Lauren Conklin, Sabrina Reneker, Audrey Fariss and Chloe Glosser, and finished in 4:27.50.

They placed second in the 4x200 relay and the 4x100 shuttle hurdles. The 4x200 crossed the finish line in 1:49.91, and was made up of Claire Roth, Lily Reneker, Lauren Conklin and Sabrina Reneker. The 4x100 shuttle hurdle team consisted of Abby Guise, Kayse Miller, Renae Eubanks and Payten Coleman.

For the individual events, Lily Reneker took home the gold in the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash. Reneker secured first place with times of 13.15 and 26.94. 

Chloe Glosser and Brooker Miller were the first two runners to cross the finish line in the 1500 meter run. Glosser was first with a time of 5:50.88, while Miller was right behind with a final time of 5:28.57.

In the 3000 meter run, Lauren Steigleder secured the gold with a time of 11:52.64. Lexi Swearingen finished in third in the same race with a time of 13:40.20.

Abby Guise and Kayse Miller placed back to back in the high jump. Guise took home the gold with a longest leap of 5-02. Miller finished in second with a longest jump recorded at 5-00.

 Claire Roth had the second longest jump recorded at 15-06.75.

Lastly for the team events, Anna Hadley secured the gold in the shot put and the discus events. She hurled the shot put a distance of 36-06.25, while throwing the discus a recorded distance of 114-04. 

Boys:

For the team events, the Panthers were the second team to cross the finish line in the distance medley with a time of 3:58.24. The distance medley team consisted of Will Adam, Nolan Glick, Riley Smith and Brady McWhirter. 

For the individual events, Brady Mcwhirter took home the gold in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs with times of 4:50.79 and 10:23.79.

JaeDon Wolver secured second place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.68.

The Pekin track teams will return to action on May 11, when they travel to WACO high school for the 2023 state qualifying meet.
