Pekin Kicks Off Track Season at Iowa State

AMES—The Pekin Panthers boys and girls track teams traveled to Iowa State University for the IATC State indoor track meet. The girls event took place on March 9 and the boys event was held on March 10. With all the weather issues, all four classes ran the same day. All races were a combination of all classes running together. After the meet, the events were divided into the four classes. 

The Pekin girls ended in third in 1A with an aggregate score of 52. Grandview Christian finished in first with an overall score of 58.

For the girls, Kayse Miller, Lilla Reneker, Sabrina Renecker and Claire Roth finished third in the sprint medley with a time of 2.04.18.

The girls also finished in fifth in the 5x8 with a final time of 11.10.73. The Pekin 5x8 team was made up of Brooke Miller, Alex Parsons, Audrey Fariss and Chloe Glosser. 

In the shuttle hurdle, Erica Hoy, Brooke Miller, Renae Eubanks and Kayse Miller placed third with a final time of 46.67.

The Panthers also finished seventh in the 4x1 with a time of 59.1. The Panthers 4x1 team consisted of Erika Hoy, Kayse Miller, Reanae Eubanks and Lilla Reneker.

Lastly for the group events, the Panther’s 4x4 group finished in second with a final time of 4.30.23. The 4x4 group consisted of Claire Roth, Sabrina Reneker, Audrey Fariss and Chloe Glosser. 

For individuals, Erica Hoy finished in fifth in the 60 hurdles with a time of 11.13. Lexi Swearingen finished in seventh with a time of 1.10.78. In the 1500, Chloe Glosser finished in second with a final time of 5.03.26, and Lauren Steigleder finished with a final time of 5.37.58. Kayse Miller finished eighth in the high jump with a final jump recorded at 4’5”. In the long jump, Claire Roth finished in sixth with a jump record at 14’ 4”. Lastly for the girls, in the shot put event Anna Hadley finished in third with a recorded distance of 31’ 3”, and Hayle Oosatra placed third with a recorded distance of 28' 8".

For the boys team, the distance medley group finished in seventh with a final time of 3.55.2. The distance medley team is made up of Svan Dahlstrom, Will Adam, Jaedon Wolver and Brady Mcwhirter. 

The 4x8 group, made up of Robert Brown, Riley Smith, Ben Guise and Cole Milikin, placed 10th with a final time of 10.31.54. 

The shuttle hurdle group finished in seventh place with a final time of 38.53. The shuttle hurdle group consists of Kaesy Davis, Sven Dahlstrom, Nolan Glick and Riley Smith. 

In the 4x1, Kasey Davis, Sven Dahlstrom, Nolan Glick and Riley Smith finished in 17th with a final time of 52.2

The 4x4 team made up of Will Adam, Robert Brown, Jaedon Wolver and Nolan Glick finished in 14th with a final time of 3.53.52.

For individual events, Cole Millikin finished 19th in the 1600 with a time of 5.39.4. Robert Brown placed 13th in the long jump with a recorded score of 17’ 6”. Jaedon Wolver finished in 10th in the high jump with a recorded jump of 5’ 9”. In the shot put event, Caden Benter finished in 13th with a record score of 39’ 11”.
