Pekin Secures First and Third at Bob Gerard Relays

ASHLAND—On April 28, the Pekin Panthers made the trip to Cardinal high school for the Bob Gerard Relays. The girls finished in first place with an aggregate score of 192.50, while the boys placed third with a score of 84. 

Girls:

For the team events, the Panthers were the second team to cross the finish line in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 53.48. The 4x100 team consisted of Kayse Miller, Teagan Swearingen, Renae Eubanks and Lauren Conklin.

  The Panthers secured first in the 4x200,the 4x400, the 4x800 and the sprint medley. The 4x200 team, made up of Claire Roth, Sabrin Reneker, Audrey Fariss and Lily Reneker crossed the finish line in 1:54.04. The 4x400 team included Claire Roth, Audrey Fariss, Sabrina Reneker and Chloe Glosser. The 4x800 team consisted of Audrey Fariss,Alex Parsons, Lexi Swearingen and Brooke Miller, and finished in 10:41.79. The sprint medley team was made up of Claire Roth, Lily Reneker, Sabrina Reneker and Chloe Glosser, and finished in 10:30.28.

The Panthers were the third team to cross the finish line in the distance medley with a time of 4:54.64. The distance medley team included Lauren Conklin, Krysta Sheetz, Chloe Glosser and Audrey Fariss.

Lastly for the team events, the Panthers secured second place in the shuttle hurdles with a time of 1:17.98. The 100 meter shuttle hurdle team consisted of Abby Guise, Renae Eubanks, Payten Coleman and Kayse Miller. 

For the individual events, Lauren Conklin and Katelynn Schultz placed back to back in the 100 meter dash. Conklin secured fifth with a time of 14.19, while Schultz placed sixth with a time of 14.29.

Lily Reneker was the fifth runner to cross the finish line in the 200 meter dash with a final time of 30.24.

Chloe Glosser secured first in the 400 meter dash with a final time of 1:04.72. Glosser also placed first in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:16.68.

In the 1500 meter run, Lauren Steigleder and Brook Miller were the first two runners to cross the finish line. Steigleder was first with a time of 5:24.11, while Miller was right behind in second with a time of 5:36.08. Steigleder also secured second in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:39.97.

Abby Guise placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a final time of 18.27.

In the 400 meter hurdles, Renae Eubanks secured third with a final time of 1:18.40.

Claire Roth took home the gold in the long jump with a longest jump recorded at 15-01.00.

Anna Hadley secured first place in the shot put event with a longest throw recorded at 32-10.50. Haylea Oostra also placed fourth in the same event with a longest throw of 29-04.75.

Emma Phillips placed second in the discus event with a farthest hurl recorded at 91-00.

In the 3000 meter run, Lauren Steigleder was the first runner to cross the finish line in 11:16.68.

Lastly for individual events, Kayse Miller secured the gold in the high jump with a highest jump recorded at 5-01.00. Abby Guise placed fourth in the same event with a highest recorded jump at 4-06.00.

Boys:

For the team events, the Panthers placed third in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:37.36. The 4x200 team consisted of Will Adam, Robert Brown, Dylan Sobaski and Bo Latchman.

The Panthers were the second team to cross the finish line in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:43.70. The 4x400 team was made up of Will Adam, Nolan Glick, Sven Dahlstrom and JaeDon Wolver.

In the sprint medley, the Panthers finished in fourth with a time of 1:45.83. The sprint medley team included Sven Dahlstrom, Kasey Davis, Robert Brown and Kyler Dickey.

They also secured third in the distance medley with a time of 4:14.26. The distance medley team consisted of Sven Dahlstrom, Kasey Davis, Nolan Glick and Riley Smith.

Lastly for the team events, the Panthers took home the gold in the shuttle hurdles with a final time of 1:07.41. The shuttle hurdle team was made up of Will Adam, Robert Brown, Kasey Davis and JaeDon Wolver.

For the individual events, Cole Millikin secured sixth in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:31.04. Millikin also placed third in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:01.44. Ben Guise also finished in fourth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:49.63.

Kasey Davis and Kyler Dickey finished back to back in the 110 meter shuttle hurdles. Davis placed third with a time of 18.08, while Dickey secured fourth with a time of 18.38.

Robert Brown finished in third in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.59. Riley Smith was right behind Brown, as he secured fourth with a time of 1:03.68. 

In the long jump event, JaeDon Wolver took home the silver for the Panthers with a longest jump recorded at 18-04. Will Adam placed fourth in the same event with a longest leap of 17-09.

Lastly for the individual events, Alton Williams placed sixth in the shot put event with a longest throw recorded at 33-05. 

The Panthers track teams will return to action on May 1, when they travel to Van Buren County high school for a Co-Ed track meet.
