S-K Sub-State Bowling Makes History
PELLA – The S-K girls and boys varsity bowling teams traveled to Pella on February 13 and 14 for the Class 1A Sub-State meet to compete during the team and individual qualifying rounds for the 2023 Iowa High School state meet.
The S-K girls team placed third with a fifteen Baker games team score of 1832.
Sophomore Jayden Montgomery made history as the first S-K girl to qualify for the individual state competition. Her personal best scores of 202, 161, 216 for a 569 three-game series earned her 3rd place honors and punched her ticket to state.
Lily Bird finished with a three-game series of 372, Addison Richardson had a 345, Logan Bray 305, and Maleah Dickerson rolled a 228.
The S-K Boys placed second overall at the meet with a fifteen Baker games team score of 2780.
Sophomore Landyn Greiner captured 4th place individual honors at the meet qualifying him forstate competition with his three-game performance of 203, 201 and 214 for a total of 618.
The S-K boys had three bowlers place in the top eight at the meet, more than any other team.
Along with Greiner placing 4th in the top eight, Brock Alderson placed 5th with a 616 series and Ty Kreuger placed 8th with a 561. Additionally, Wells Clark finished with a 543, Corran Freel had a 456, and Gable Goff rolled a 416.
This was the first time S-K had two bowlers qualify for state. Montgomery and Greiner will compete in Waterloo this week at the sold out 2023 IAHSAA Class 1A individual state meet.
