Savages Finish Season Undefeated in Conference Play
MARENGO—The Sigourney Savages visited the Iowa Valleys Tigers on June 26 for a conference matchup. The Savages stormed past the Tigers by a final score of 11-0.
The Savages quickly jumped out to a 4-0 after the conclusion of the first innings. They went on to add three in the third and four in the fourth en route to the 11-0 victory.
Carly Goodwin led the Savages with four RBIs on the day. Kenzi VanDenHueval also knocked in three runs for the Savages. Courtney Hemsley and Macy Fisch also tallied two RBIs.
Goodwin tallied another perfect game with five innings pitched and 10 strikeouts. She pushed her season total for strikeouts to 245, which is the second most in the state of Iowa.
Head Coach Shelly Streigle spoke on being able to secure an undefeated record in conference play with, “A perfect record is pretty incredible. Not many teams can say that, and we are lucky enough to we that can. I feel grateful for the girls that have been able to play. I am just thankful and excited to be a part of it.”
The Savages complete their season with an unblemished conference record of 16-0, while holding an overall record of 21-4. They will return to action on June 27, when they host the Pekin Panthers.
