Savages Score 17 as They Defeat HLV/Tri-County

SIGOURNEY—On June 10, the Sigourney Savages hosted the HLV/Tri-County Warriors for a SICL Conference matchup. The Savages secured the victory over the Warriors by a final score of 17-5. 

The Savages started the game strong with seven runs in the first inning. The Warriors took the big hit and swung right back with five runs of their own.

Sigourney would tally one run in the bottom of the third then bring home six runners in the bottom of the fourth to secure the 17-5 victory.

The Savage offense was once again led by senior Reid Molyneux, as he tallied a team high four RBIs. Sigourney also had three other players bring in the three runs on the night:Jake Moore, Caden Clarahan and Isaac Bruns.

Freshman Lincoln Power also knocked in a pair, while junior Brady Clark had an RBI of his own. 

Reid Molyneux got the start for the Savages, and went two and two-thirds with three earned runs on five hits, eight walks and three punch-outs. Senior Jake Moore came in relief with two and one-thirds innings pitched, no earned runs on two hits, one walk and two strikeouts.

Tri-County’s Levi Molyneux had a productive day at the plate with two singles in his three at-bats. Freshman Sean McCulloch and senior Gage Mercer also had a single apiece between them.

The Savages push to 10-2 on the season with a conference record of 8-1. They will return to action on June 12, when they visit the North Mahaska Warhawks.

The HLV/Tri-County team falls to 1-7 with a conference record of 1-6. They will return to action on June 12, when they host the BGM Bears.
