Seven Savages Earn All-Conference Honors


Reid Molyneux stands back before stepping back into the box

1st Team:

Caden Clarahan-Pitcher:

Sophomore Caden Clarahan transferred from Keota to Sigourney this last year, and was immediately an impact player for the Savages. Clarahan finished in the top five of 11 statistics in the South Iowa Cedar League conference: 1st in home runs with six, third highest batting average at 0.486, fourth most RBIs with 30, second most wins as a pitcher with seven, fourth most strikeouts as a pitcher with 87, tied for third most hits as a batter with 35, third most total bases tallied with 62, second highest on base percentage with a .620, second highest slugging percentage at 0.861 and the most walks drawn with 23. 

He finished his season from the bump with a statline of 1.47 ERA on 57 innings pitched and 87 strikeouts. Clarahan will look to continue his success, when he returns for his junior season.

Jake Moore-Infielder:

Junior Jake Moore wrapped up his junior season with a first team all conference section as he had a batting average of 0.368 and 13 RBIs. Moore led the entire SICL conference with 32 singles hit on the year. Moore also tied with Caden Clarahan for the third most hits in the conference with 35.

Moore will look to replicate a successful season, when he returns for his senior season.

Reid Molyneux-Outfielder:

Senior Reid Molyneux wrapped up his final season for the Savages with a selection to the first team all conference team. Molyneux had a batting average of 0.234 with 11 RBIs. Molyneux was patient at the plate all season, as he drew the second most walks and was hit by the fourth most pitches. 

Molyneux also had the fourth lowest opposing team batting average allowed from the bump with an average of 0.117. He also allowed the third least amount of hits with only 13 allowed on the year. 

Molyneux ends his final season with the Savages on a high note, as he is honored as one of the best 16 players in the conference. 

2nd Team:

Brady Clark-Infielder:

Sophomore Brady Clark was selected to the second all conference team with a batting average of 0.315 and eight RBIs tallied.

Clark led the entire conference with 48 assists on the year from his second base position. 

Clark will look to have another successful season, when he returns for his junior season.

Isaac Bruns-Outfielder:

Sophomore Issac Bruns wrapped up his season with the Savages with a batting average of 0.221 and 14 RBIs, which earned his second team all conference honors. 

Bruns hit three home runs, which was tied for the fourth most in the SICL conference. 

He will look to continue to have this success from behind the plate, when he returns for his junior season.

Ty Shafranek-Utility:

Senior Ty Shafranek wrapped his final season with the Savages by earning a selection to the first team all conference team. Shafranek ended his season with a batting average of 0.309 and nine runs batted in. 

Shafranek also finished his season from the bump with 25.1 innings pitched, an ERA of 3.04 and 30 strikeouts. He tied for the most saves in the SICL conference with two on the year. He also allowed the least amount of walks throughout the season with only six batters walked. 

Shafranek wrapped up his career in a Savage uniform with a selection to the second all conference team. 

Honorable Mention:

Cole McKay:

Sophomore Cole McKay earned an honorable mention to the SICL all conference teams with a batting average of 0.309 and 11 runs batted in. 

McKay will look to have another successful season, when he returns for his junior year.
