Sigourney Basketball Mid-Season Recap

The Sigourney girls basketball team stormed out to a 4-0 record before dropping their first game to the English Valleys Bears. They won their next two games before losing their last three games before the break. Their current record is 6-4 with a conference record of 3-4.

Senior Carly Goodwin leads the team by averaging 10.1 points, 3.7 assists and 3.8 rebounds. Fellow senior Josephine Moore is almost averaging a double double with 9.2 points and rebounds per game. 

Senior Erin Dawson has played a pivotal role to the starting lineup with her 7.5 and 2 offensive rebounds per game. 

Junior Ava Fisch comes off the bench, and adds 7.8 points and 2.2 steals per game.

For the boys, they started the season off 1-2 before ripping off three straight wins. They wrapped up the first half of their season with close losses to Lynnville-Sully and Montezuma. Their record sits at 4-5 with a conference record of 3-5.

Junior Issac Bruns continues to fill out the stat sheet by averaging 13.9 points, 3.3 assists and 7.1 rebounds. Fellow returning starter Solon Yates has the second highest average points per game with 12.4.

Sophomore John Berg has been a huge paint presence for the Savages as he averages 7.2 rebounds and 2 blocks per game.

Freshman Ike Molyneux has stepped up as the point guard for a young Sigourney team. Molyeux averages 7.8 points, 3 steals and 3.7 assists per game.

Both teams return to action on January 5, when they visit the BGM Bears.
