Sigourney boys gain three lopsided wins
SIGOURNEY – Not all of the weeks are this easy.
Although the players would like them to be. Last week the Sigourney boys played in three games and finished with three wins. All of the wins were by at least 20 points.
While the undefeated week is nice Sigourney knows that the schedule will feature some better competition as the rest of the month of January progresses.
The victorious week started on Jan. 13 when the Savages were able to down EBF 80-48. After a tight game early on the Savages used a strong third quarter to come out and pull away from the Rockets.
“I don’t know what it has been but we’ve been a little sleepy coming out of the gates the last few games,” said Sigourney head basketball coach, Mitch Eslick. “We’ve tried different things to get us ready for the game, but you can’t just have slow starts. Tonight we got away with it, but we can’t expect to have a slow start and recover from it every night.”
A 27-third quarter effort by the Savages gave them enough of a lead which they were able to use to gain the ultimate victory.
Isaac Bruns scored 25 points in the win. John Berg had 17 points and 14 rebounds. Solon Yates added 16 points. Ike Molyneux scored six points. Landon Conrad added five points.
Jordan Tremmel and Landon Fisch both scored three points. Brayden Wood scored one point.
On Jan. 14 the Savages won 86-47 over Colfax-Mingo.
This time there was no first-half slump. The Savages scored 52 points in the first half which set them on an easy path to the win.

Conrad added eight points. Both Tremmel and Wood finished with seven points. Chase Clarahan scored six points. Ty Goldman, Cain Weber and Landon Fisch all scored two points each.
Friday night the Savages were able to best HLV 62-37.
The Savages started the game off with a 17-7 lead which helped carry them through the rest of the contest. They put the game away with another 17-7 run in the fourth quarter.
